Fahima shook her head vigorously; droplets of water flying everywhere. She had been heading home to Oz' Ske but a rather nasty storm had caught her off guard. Unable to continue in such poor conditions she had to take refuge under the roots of a large tree. She was lucky to have found it, the last thing she needed was to catch pneumonia, though it was not the ideal place to light a fire either so she would have tough it out.

Unable to think of anything productive to do she decided to turn in for the time being, and hopefully, when she woke up, would be dry and rested. Placing her head on a bed of fallen leaves she closed her eyes and settled down, the pitter patter of the rain lulling her into a comfortable slumber.

BANG!

Fahima sat bolt upright, instantly jolted awake by a roar of thunder in the distance. Lowering her ears she cupped her hands over head, and curled up as small as she could, as if she were trying to hide from an all knowing eye. Try as she might, she was unable to keep a strong facade. Thunder storms terrified her and made her feel small and helpless to the power of nature. It was also extremely loud for her compared to races like humans or dwarves with lesser hearing.

"Please, please stop." She muttered to herself, rocking helplessly, eyes tightly shut.

It was then that a visitor quietly slipped into her hiding place. Its long eel-like body, usually covered in soft fluffy wool, was now water logged and weighed down, making it look very small. Luckily its hidden gills were specially tailored by nature to absorb the aqueous substance. With a cheerful little bleat the creature sucked up all the water in seconds, and fluffed up to its usual voluminous state. Looking very pleased with itself it soared over to the giant hare and curled up happily on her head.

Fahima slowly opened her eyes, and patted the top of her head to see what had decided to make it their nest. "Altaf?" She exclaimed with a smirk "What are you doing here?" but before she was able to continue she noticed she could no longer hear the storm... The Lambrey was acting like a pair of ear muffs!

"Altaf you are of the highest intelligence!" Fahima shouted, her ears perking up out of the fluff.

"Fahi?"

Fahima recognized Olaf's voice and promptly popped her head out from under the tree "Olaf? I thought you were returning home?" The thork inquired with genuine confusion.

"I was going to! But then this wonderful rain started and I couldn't help but take a shower! I was pretty dirty after all that time spent in the tunnels..." She trailed off and cocked her head to one side, raising an inquisitive eyebrow "Fahi... Did you know you have a cloud on your head?"

Fahima wasn't sure what she was talking about but it was only a few moments before she realized she was referring to the lambrey still perched upon her cranium. "Oh." Fahima reached up and pulled Altaf off down, draping him over her arms. "It is not a cloud, it is a Lambrey."

"Lam... Brey" Olaf said slowly, sounding out the new word. She then sat up straight and her mouth opened into a wide toothy grin "Can I eat it!?"

"No!" Fahima said firmly, lowering her brow and holding the Lambrey away from her.

"Okay okay" She replied with a chuckle. "What is its name?"

"Altaf"

Olaf gasped and her eyes widened to twice their usual size "Olaf!?"

"No. Al-"

BANG!

Another crack of thunder cut her off, though she seemed not to notice for she was too flustered with her avian friend to be scared.

"You named it after me!?"

"No! Not Oh-laff. Al-taff!"

"Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" Altaf bleated, squirming out of Fahima's hands and curled around Olaf's neck like a scarf.

"... Are you sure it's not a cloud?" Olaf said, squinting at Fahima as if she could be lying to her.

Fahima huffed and rolled her eyes, as she reached over and pulled ALtaf from her neck. "Look" She flipped the creature over to expose the large sucker mouth, lined with sharp teeth. "Clouds do not have teeth."

Olaf studied it for a moment "Maybe not, but Olafs do!" The corners of her lips slowly began to rise, and her terrifying smile creeped across her face once more.

To Fahima's displeasure, Altaf also warped his mouth into an oddly disturbing smile and wiggled around excitedly in Fahima's grasp.

"Olaf is a good name for him Fahi, you chose well!"

"HIS NAME IS NOT OLAF, IT IS -"

BANG!

This time the thunder was louder and was followed soon after by a blinding flash of lightning. Fahima tore off inside the cover of the tree once more, leaving Olaf and Altaf outside.

"Come on Olaf number 2! Let's race!"

Fahima shuddered at the storm, but managed to get herself together long enough to peer out at them, jealousy nipping at her neck "Oh, I give up." She said in defeat, turning away. It seemed as if she would have to tough this one out alone whilst Altaf played with his new friend.

The lambrey spun around in circles excitedly and was about to follow the avian, but he hesitated. Looping back around he saw Fahima, curled up with her hands over her ears again. His little beady eyes saddened; once upon a time, he too had been alone and defenseless, but she had come to his rescue...

Zipping up to Olaf, Altaf tugged on her ear gently to get her attention. He then motioned to his hare friend, as if he wanted her to follow him back. Olaf looked down and saw for the first time that Fahima was truly frightened, but was trying so hard to hide it from everyone. With a knowing smile she nodded at Altaf, and the two of them ducked into the cover of the tree. Altaf took his place around Fahima's ears, and Olaf fluffed out her feathers, roosting next to her friend, and the three of them waited out the storm together.
